As Ottawa Sleeps

RPGA Asia-Pacific Branch presents As Ottawa Sleeps
by Matthew Domville

March 1895 Ottawa - the Confederation of Canada situated on the Ottawa River which marks the border between the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec lies the city of Ottawa, the capital of Canada. Since becoming Canada?s capital in 1857 Ottawa has striven to become a modern and sophisticated metropolis. The people of Ottawa share a blending of English and French Canada that highlights the dual nature of Canadian culture.Despite its relative youth when compared to other capital cities like London, Paris or Washington, Ottawa still manages to have its share of darkness and secrets waiting to snare the unwary. One such place is a house which now lies abandoned. A house which once had life within its structure and echoed to the sounds of happier times. Once, but not now. Now it lies alone, undisturbed, derelict. People do not loiter near the old house, that old house that emanates an almost tangible aura of trepidation if someone gets brave enough to get close enough. The house stands silent, unused, unloved and unappreciated. It waits. Is it a silent sentinel standing vigil against the darkness, or is it the web of a hungry spider? Now something has changed and is causing disquiet in the house and the surrounding neighbourhood. Now something needs the attention of the Travellers of the White Rose.

A First Run Living Death adventure for heroes of any level.

"As Ottawa Sleeps" is part of the RPGA's 3rd Edition D&D on-going campaign "Living Death" which is run world-wide and set in a Gothic Earth of the 1890's. Players need not have played any previous Living Death game to participate.

Blood, Sand and Steel

Egypt, 15th June, 1942.

Burning tanks light up the dunes of the cold Egyptian landscape, and the thunder of artillery rumbles throughout the night. The panzers of Rommel's Afrika Korps are sweeping towards El Adem, and there is little the Eighth Army can do to stop them.

Close by, the war is carried on by more covert means. The patrols of the Long Range Desert Group are transporting SAS teams to missions behind enemy lines, reporting on Axis troop positions, and conducting lightning raids on the advancing forces.

Underneath the ancient sands of Egypt, a dark and terrible force is stirring. The soldiers of LRDG Patrol J are about to uncover it.

Echoes From the Deep

It Came from the ocean.
Nothing but a bulbous mass of black flesh.

The beach goers didn't know what it was so it was taken away.

But somebody saw, and called some people who cared.

At least enough to enquire.

Perhaps a bit too far.
